This image was inspired from the memories i’ve had as a Track & Field athlete competing in the Canada West conference while representing the University of Regina. Nothing compares to the excitment of the biggest university track meet on the calendar. Although an individual sport by nature, the Canwest championship seemily instils the essence of true team spirit into every athlete at the championship. Shouting and cheering at maximum lung capacity for two consecutive days usually results in lost voices but every rookie to senior athlete leave with no regrets, looking to return in a year’s time to do it all over again, from the track or the stands!

Janz Stein
Janz Stein began training Track October of 2015, focusing on the 100 m dash and long jump. He has fought the ultimate battle of his life this past two years and has set his mind and goals of succeeding at the highest level of competition.Stein grew up wrestling with two brothers, and then took up the sport in a more formal way in high school. Years after graduating he found he missed the sport and competition. He had been introduced to the UFC at the age of 15, and was intrigued by grappling tournaments as they closely simulated his wrestling experience.Training in jiu jitsu, kick boxing, wrestling and mixed martial arts with AJ Scales at Complete Martial Arts and Fitness became a way of life for Stein. In his first grappling tournament as a white belt in Calgary, Alberta in January of 2005, Janz used his one year of training experience to win a silver medal in the 140-pound absolute division. His first submission was an arm lock from guard. As Stein continued to train and improve, he increased his number of competitions. He has excelled at most grappling tournaments in Western Canada and also competed at the World Championships in June of 2010. It is the norm for him to compete in both gi (Jiu Jitsu) and no gi (submission wrestling) competitions, as he is determined to compete as much as possible and wants to take full advantage of the time and cost of travelling to events.Stein has a passion for life, when he commits, it is with 100 percent dedication. In just Twelve years he has earned his black belt in jiu jitsu, a moment of pride for him and his supporters. Stein weighs just 135 pounds, but fights much bigger than his size. He will fight at 130 or 135 pounds, and competes in jiu jitsu and submission wrestling in the 140- or 155-pound weight divisions. He also has a 1-2 record in amateur mixed martial arts, and a 3-0 record at the professional level.A free spirit who loves to travel and experience life in its many different forms throughout the world, S

Three years ago my first ever photo I took of Astrid Nyame was of her sitting I the bleachers at the track. Fast forward to today she is a Canadian USport champion and National Silver medalist in the Women's 100m Hurdles! Right now she's got her eyes set on making the Canadian 2020 Olympic Team.
